Young Writers Collective is free to join and open to anyone who is:

  • Aged 11 to 18 years old

  • Lives/studies/works in Sussex

  • Wants to be part of a growing collective of young writers

How does Young Writers Collective work?

We run three ‘Editions’ per year, each with a different theme suggested by and voted on by Young Writers Collective members.

The chosen theme runs across 2-3 months and there are lots of different ways for YWC to get involved, including:

  • Submitting writing or art inspired by the theme -to be including in the next anthology (which is published online and in print)

  • Attending a creative writing workshop in-person - we try to hold these in different locations around Sussex each time so that everyone has a chance to attend one near to them, and we cover travel expenses for getting to and from the workshop

  • Exclusive access to a digital masterclass - video from a professional writer/artist

  • Writing a guest editorial introduction to the theme for the website and anthology

  • Opportunity to become a paid workshop assistant and help plan and lead the next workshop

We also run some one-off projects, for example our Amplified spoken-word and performance project, and other workshops in collaboration with festivals like B.Fest and Brighton Festival. As a member of Young Writers Collective you will get priority access to booking.

As Young Writers Collective develops we will also be adding more opportunities to get involved and express yourself. We want YWC to lead the direction of the collective wherever possible, so please feel free to share any ideas you have with Nikki and Sally at ywc@littlegreenpig.org.uk
