Amplified

Amplified allowed me to express a part of myself that I have never expressed to anyone. Not myself, or an audience. They allowed me to write how I felt. They allowed me to speak up about things I haven’t spoken up about before.

Amplified participant

Amplified is one of Young Writers Collective’s flagship projects. Anyone from Sussex aged 11 to 18 is invited to share their personal stories on stage through spoken word, rap, poetry and music as part of Amplified. Watch the film from 2024’s Amplified project to hear what young creatives have to say about what mattered to them, from stories about foster families and friendship, to finding fame and facing fears. Unique and powerful stories told by young people in their own creative ways, Amplified participants took part in workshops across six weeks with Audio Active Worthing and Young Writers Collective/Little Green Pig. Supported by mentors and leaders Louie LeVack and Suhayla El-Bushra, funded by Arts Council England. Short film about the project made by Lacera Films in Worthing, Sussex.

We will be running Amplified again and Young Writers Collective members can apply to take part in these workshops and performance opportunity. Watch this space! The project is currently seeking funding to take place in 2026 in Eastbourne.
