Paid Workshop Assistant opportunity for YWC members
We are excited to announce another opportunity for Young Writers Collective members to develop their leadership skills in a paid role as a Workshop Assistant.
Our next in-person Young Writers Collective workshop will be on Saturday 10th October as part of Shoreham Wordfest (read more about it here) and we are looking for two young people to be involved in the planning and delivery of the workshop, which will be all about Crafting Stories.
You will need to be able to:
Attend a 45–minute planning session with workshop leader Nicola Gerrard, supported by Nikki and Sally from Little Green Pig. The meeting will be on zoom on Wednesday 23rd September from 5.00-5.45pm
Attend the workshop in Shoreham (at ESTEEM, The Old School House, Ham Road, Shoreham by Sea BN43 6PA) on Saturday 10th October between 1.45-3.45pm
The role is open to all YWC members. No previous experience is needed, and the role can be adapted according to your skills, interests and support needs. The venue for the workshop will be wheelchair-accessible. We can cover travel expenses within Sussex for you to attend the workshop.
You will be paid for 2 hours of your time at £12.50 per hour if you are aged 16-18 years old (if you are under-16 you will be paid the equivalent amount in vouchers you can use at a wide range of retailers) and you will also be able to participate in the workshop as a writer, so you won’t miss out on the opportunity to join in as a member of the YWC.
The deadline to apply is Tuesday 8th September 2026
We will be selecting the Assistants at random from all the applicants. The Workshop Assistant roles will be offered again for future in-person workshops, so if you aren’t successful this time you’ll have the opportunity again for the next edition. We welcome previous Workshop Assistants to apply again too.
To apply for this role please complete the form below. If you have any questions please email Sally or Nikki at ywc@littlegreenpig.org.uk
