Paid Workshop Assistant opportunity for YWC members
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for Young Writers Collective members to develop their leadership skills in a paid role as a Workshop Assistant.
Our next in-person Young Writers Collective workshop will be on Thursday 25th June in Brighton and we are looking for two young people to be involved in the planning and delivery of the workshop, which will be focused around writing skills for developing characters and inspiration for the “who am I?” theme.
You will need to be able to:
Attend a 45–minute planning session with workshop leader Roy McFarlane, supported by Nikki and Sally from Little Green Pig - the date/time will be arranged according to your availability (either in person or on Zoom)
Attend the workshop in Brighton on Thursday 25th June between 4.45-6.30pm
The role is open to all YWC members. No previous experience is needed, and the role can be adapted according to your skills, interests and support needs. The venue for the workshop will be wheelchair-accessible. We can cover travel expenses within Sussex for you to attend the workshop.
You will be paid for 2 hours of your time at £12.50 per hour if you are aged 16-18 years old (if you are under-16 you will be paid the equivalent amount in vouchers you can use at a wide range of retailers) and you will also be able to participate in the workshop as a writer, so you won’t miss out on the opportunity to join in as a member of the YWC.
The deadline to apply is 8th June 2026
We will be selecting the Assistants at random from all the applicants. The Workshop Assistant roles will be offered again for future in-person workshops, so if you aren’t successful this time you’ll have the opportunity again for the next edition.
To apply for this role please complete the form below. If you have any questions please email Sally or Nikki at ywc@littlegreenpig.org.uk
